Amy Winehouses Husband Blake Fielder Civil

Amy Winehouse's Ex-Husband Breaks Silence on Her Death

Blake Fielder-Civil Admits Mistakes, Denies Causing Her Death

Six Years After Amy Winehouse's Passing, Her Ex-Husband Speaks Out

Blake Fielder-Civil, the ex-husband of late singer Amy Winehouse, has spoken out for the first time about her death six years ago. In an interview with The Sun, Fielder-Civil admitted to making mistakes during their tumultuous relationship but denied being solely responsible for Winehouse's addiction and subsequent death.

"I feel to be honest that I'm the only person within that situation that f***ed up and made mistakes," Fielder-Civil said. "But in terms of causing her death, no."

Winehouse and Fielder-Civil had a volatile six-year relationship marked by drug use and addiction. They married in Miami in 2007 but divorced two years later. Winehouse died at the age of 27 in July 2011 from alcohol poisoning.

Fielder-Civil has been widely blamed for introducing Winehouse to hard drugs, but he insists that she was already using them before they met. "I didn't introduce her to drugs. When I met her, she was already dabbling," he said.

Despite his denials, Fielder-Civil admitted to making several mistakes during their relationship. "I was possessive. I was jealous. I was doing too much, putting her in situations she didn't need to be in," he said.

Fielder-Civil has also struggled with addiction and spent time in prison on charges related to drug possession and assault. He is now a father to two children and claims to be sober.

"I have a lot of guilt, a lot of shame, a lot of regrets," Fielder-Civil said. "But I can't keep living in the past. I have to move on and be the best father I can be."
